Don't forget to see this before building your own Gaming PC

by Abhijeet Kumar

People think that gaming is an addictive source and distract children’s from studies, but the recent research has proven that gaming is not just an addiction it has many useful benefits. It includes the development of cognitive skills. The cognitive games improve the performance of the brain and help in brain constant stimulation.

If you have decided to build your own PC for the sake of cost or for a feeling of accomplishment. Building your own PC and controlling everything means that you won’t have to sacrifice on performance and can easily make any upgrades when required. However, before you begin the build, it’s important to have a basic understanding of what is needed and what is the work of each component.

Here is list of all the hardwares you will need to purchase before building your gaming PC:

RAM
Storage Drive
Graphics Card
Cooling System
Keyboard & Mouse
Power Supply (SMPS)
Motherboard
Monitor

RAM

Random access memory (RAM) is the best known form of computer memory. RAM allows a computer to work with more information at the same time, which usually has a considerable effect on total system performance. If you are planning to run multiple applications at the same time, then you need a good capacity RAM to do things smoothly. A capacity of at least 8GB RAM is ideal for getting the best performance. High speed RAM is recommended for overclock users. The standard speed of 1600MHz is supported by a CAS latency rate of 9.

Storage Drive

As the operating system and files are stored on internal storage drive. So you need a good and high speed storage drives. You could either choose a hard disk drive HDD or solid-state drive SSD. If you are looking for a lot of storage without spending a lot of money then an HDD is a great option. But if you are looking for speed then SSD is the good option. A system with a SSD takes less time to boot. If you have budget then you should have both of them, use SSD for OS and HDD for file storage.

Graphics Card

If you’ve ever experienced screen tearing in a PC game or video, you know how annoying it could be. You can turn on V-Sync, but if you don’t have a high end system, it can put a huge dent in your performance. Both Nvidia and AMD have stepped up to try and solve the issue while preserving framerates, and both manufacturers have turned to adaptive refresh technology for the solution. We need a graphics card for smooth gaming with good quality graphic settings. You can also get more frames with better quality visuals while gaming.

Cooling System

To deliver better performance it requires a good cooling system. You can either have an air cooling or liquid cooling system. Air cooling systems are noisy but are economical and perform well. Most processors are built with more cooling fans, and you can upgrade them with something bigger and better to perform well when cooled. In water cooling systems, fans run slower than air cooling systems and hence are quieter or less noisy. They are slightly expensive and complex to install. There you can have a tubing route via different components, radiators and pumps to keep your PC cool and fresh. Both cooling systems are great. If you don't need overclock then an air cooling system is sufficient for your PC.

Keyboard & Mouse

A good gaming peripherals could increase your gaming performance, increase your effectiveness and make your gaming space look cool. If you want to get the most out of your gaming rig, you'll need some good quality peripherals to go along with it. A mechanical keyboard with backlight looks cool at any gaming station.

Power Supply Unit (SMPS)

A certified gold standard power supply unit(PSU) may be costly but good enough to save your expensive equipment. It's not essential to get the most expensive one to design your gaming PC, instead, it’s important to get the most reliable and useful one.

Motherboard

The Motherboard is the main component of PC, Mobiles, Tablets or Laptops. But in a computer the Motherboard is just a Printed Circuit Board which holds all the major components such as RAM Slots, CPU Slot, BIOS, SATA, IDE Slots, PCI Slots etc. Motherboard acts as the main platform for communication between all other components of PC.

Before choosing a correct motherboard for your PC one should have an exact requirement of PC. Its form factor dictates the size of your computer, and the chipset / CPU socket define what kind of processor you can install. If anyone having a Full size ATX cabinet then ATX, micro ATX or Mini ITX motherboard could be used. Other size requirements are mentioned below with type of the motherboard.

Monitor

There are several questions you need to ask yourself before buying monitor. Do you favour image quality over lightning-fast pixel response? Do you need Nvidia’s G-Sync or AMD’s FreeSync? Does it even matter now that Nvidia is supporting FreeSync?

The most common types of display panels used on PC monitors are TN, IPS and VA

As a quick summary, TN panels are the fastest and have the highest refresh rates, however they have the worst viewing angles by far, as well as weak color performance and typically the lowest contrast ratios.

IPS is a middle-ground technology. They typically have the best color performance and viewing angles, mid-tier response times and refresh rates, along with mid-tier black levels and contrast ratios.

With response times for the best modern VAs approaching the level of a typical IPS, along with broad support for high refresh rates, VA monitors are commonly used for gaming monitors. Entry-level VAs also tend to be superior to entry-level TN and IPS panels, though you won’t find VA used in laptops.
